ABDUCENS - Cranial Nerve

VI. Abducens



Function: Moscles that move the eyes / turning eyes outward
Location: Pons
Test it with the same procedure as stated in Cranial Nerve IV. Test by holding finger about 24 inches from the client’s nose and move the fingers towards the nose. Ask the client to hold head still and moves eyes only, then move finger horizontally, then diagonally left to right and right to left. It should be smooth and the normal movement of eyes should be symmetrical.
